9th Street Wildflower Corridor Update

Planters hand-crafted by volunteers from the Gowanus Canal Conservancy’s Clean and Green program with FGS guidance have been installed from 2nd Avenue to 5th Avenue along 9th Street in Brooklyn. On May 17th , volunteers planted them with a diverse palette of wildflowers in conjunction with the launch of Wildflower Week. Stewards from the community have been recruited to care for the planters and to document their growth throughout the season. Additional planters will be added each spring and will eventually run the entire length of 9th Street from the Gowanus Canal to Prospect Park. The resulting corridor will be a dynamic connective path of native plants and pollinator habitats that lend beauty to the streetscape.
